Our Mission
Worldviews matter. Theology matters.
The Bristow Institute of Theology seeks to provide resources to laypeople and pastors alike to equip them to teach their congregants theology, doctrine, and church history.
We stand on the shoulders of giants. Understanding the Christian faith will enrich your life and prevent you from being cliche-bound and tongue-tied when talking about your faith.
Our Theological Essentials
Summary of Our Statements of Faith
The ultimate purpose of human life is to glorify God and enjoy Him forever. We uphold and affirm the Apostles’ Creed and the Nicene Creed as foundational statements of faith from the early Church.
God’s Word: The Authority for Our Confession
God authoritatively reveals Himself through the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments and the incarnation of God the Son, Jesus Christ.
Trinity and Incarnation: The Two Central Mysteries of the Christian FaithTrinity: Christians worship one
God in three persons—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. For more on the Trinity, see our articles on The Importance of Trinitarian Theology, Parts 1, 2, and 3.
Incarnation: Jesus Christ is both fully God and fully human. His divinity remains unchanged in His humanity and continues to exist in His resurrected body. Jesus will return visibly to judge the living and the dead, and only through the Holy Spirit can we confess Him as Lord.
New Identity and Call to Service in Christ
Covenant Life in the Church: As part of God’s family, believers share a new identity and experience God’s grace through preaching, sacraments, and mutual accountability in the church.
Living in Obedience to the Word of God: Holiness is the expected response to grace, sustained by the Holy Spirit. This includes self-examination, confession, obedience to the Ten Commandments, cultivating virtues such as love, peace, and kindness, and honoring God’s design for life.
